Gabriel Mekbib
Gabriel Mekbib is an experienced international development practitioner with over a decade of experience in policy development and program implementation. He most recently worked with UNESCO, overseeing knowledge management for a Global Partnership for Education-funded program in 19 African countries. He led the development of country profiles highlighting key education data, policy documents, and research resources to support knowledge sharing and policy formulation.
Previously, Gabriel contributed to public health initiatives in Ethiopia with the University of Michigan and agricultural development in Rwanda with the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization. He has also supported a leadership campaign within a multilateral organization and consulted with the U.S. State Department. He began his career with Kiva, partnering with the City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development to catalyze microfinance opportunities in Wisconsin.
Gabriel holds an MPA from Princeton University, where he co-authored a report on debt sustainability, and earned his BA in International Relations from Carleton College.
