Carne Ross

Carne Ross is a recognized innovator in diplomacy and political change.  He is the founder of the unique non-profit diplomatic advisory group, Independent Diplomat, which advises democratic countries and political groups around the world.  Amongst its many accomplishments, ID set up and ran the High Ambition Coalition, a coalition of what became 100 countries, led by the Marshall Islands, which was central in obtaining the most important elements of the Paris climate agreement, including the goals of 1.5℃ and 2050 net zero.  ID also brought the first ever official delegation of refugees to talks on the new UN global compact on refugees.

Carne is a former senior British diplomat who resigned over the Iraq War after giving secret testimony about his work on WMD and weapons inspections to the first official inquiry into the war.  Carne is a writer and commentator on world affairs, and the author of two books, Independent Diplomat: dispatches from an unaccountable elite and The Leaderless Revolution, which examines how to bring about bottom-up change to address our economic and political malaise.  Today, his work is devoted to empowering marginalised groups around the world to bring about renewed democracy and an economic system that protects the planet and brings social justice.
